TNEA 2025: Engineering Admissions

A simplified guide to Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (B.E./B.Tech) conducted by DoTE.

# What is TNEA?

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) is a centralized counseling process conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu. It facilitates admission to B.E./B.Tech degree courses in Government, Government-Aided, and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges across the state.

📢 Important: There is NO Entrance Exam for TNEA. Admissions are based purely on your Class 12 (Plus Two) cut-off marks.

# Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualification: Passed H.Sc (Academic) or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
  • Minimum Average Marks (PCM):
    • General Category (OC): 45%
    • BC / BCM / MBC / DNC / SC / SCA / ST: 40%
  • Nativity: Tamil Nadu natives who studied from VIII to XII Std in TN need not produce Nativity Certificate. Others must produce valid Nativity Certificate.

# Admission Process

  1. Registration: Apply online at the official TNEA portal.
  2. Certificate Verification: Upload certificates online. Verification is usually done online or at TFCs.
  3. Rank List: DoTE publishes the Rank List based on the aggregate mark of 200 (Maths: 100, Physics+Chemistry: 100).
  4. Counseling: Conducted in multiple rounds based on rank. Includes Choice Filling, Tentative Allotment, and Confirmation.
